Mubin Syed, MD, FSIR, FACR

Dr. Syed has made it his mission to provide the procedure to treat CCSVI symptoms since its inception in the early 2010's. As one of the few freestanding centers in North America Dr. Syed has treated hundreds of CCSVI patients and has also participated in a multi-center FDA study in 2012.

Dr. Syed is an interventional radiologist and neuroradiologist who received his radiology residency training at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis followed by interventional radiology and neuroradiology there as well. He is board certified in those disciplines as well as interventional pain, vascular medicine, and obesity medicine. Dr. Syed was recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and Society of Interventional Radiology for his teaching and research contributions to the respective fields. He has published 1 book, multiple book chapters and 32 articles with over 400 citations. Recently, his article “Gastric Artery Embolization Trial for the Lessening of Appetite Nonsurgically (GET LEAN): Six-Month Preliminary Data,” was recognized as a runner up for the JVIR 2016 Editor’s Award for Distinguished Clinical Study in 2016. The article was also the first FDA IDE study to be published on bariatric embolization. Previously, in 2015 and 2016, he received a pilot study grant from Society of Intervention Radiology and a seed research grant from RSNA, respectively, to conduct the GET LEAN study. In, 2017 he launched RAM Medical Innovations, a medical device company aiming to provide interventional specialists equipment to traverse hostile arterial anatomy, particularly for the stroke intervention, carotid stenting and critical limb ischemia. His first device for hostile lower extremity arterial intervention which received FDA 510(k) clearance in April of 2019 and his similar neurovascular device recently received a prestigious NIH grant for regulatory approval and market launch.
